In Theory.......
Sustainability has always been of important interest for the Zelko family. It rests on the principle that we must meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. The Zelko family has been in business for over 50 years, serving Greater Houston with one concept "The Best Products - Quality Customer Service" This concept was created in 1960 by Zelko Craftsmen.
In continuing the familiy's tradition, I restored a 1920's bungalow in the Houston Heights. By utilizing as much of the original building material & recycling its uses, we were honored by the Houston Heights Association with its "Community Improvement Award 2011" and adding vintage touches right out of the Heights' antique-shop vibe.
Natural, organic food should be our rights as consumers and not only available to those that can afford it. In theory of sustainability I remember driving around the Heights several years ago when I was in college. I wanted to renovate a small bungalow and pursue just that. Bring communal, comforting flavors to the table and with great local ingredients. Our idea is to encourage foodies and non-foodies alike, allow them and their families to understand and KNOW the difference in quality. It’s not always about the Molecular Gastronomic aspect, but a more Natural and Sustainable wow-f actor!
The Heights community and Zelko are the perfect combination for comforting American fare. In respect to our locals we maintained the curb appeal
and nostalgia in a 1920's bungalow. By preserving the heritage of early Houston, we have continued evolving with our neighborhood, bringing positive attention to its historicism & businesses and recently started a Heights Honey Project through Natural Beekeeping.
